Setting Up Stickr Email Integration with Google Workspace

Important: The Google Workspace administrator must sign into Stickr first to have the Stickr group automatically created within their Google Workspace organization.

This technical documentation guides Google Workspace administrators through the process of configuring Stickr integration with Gmail to enable specialized email processing for specific users.

Prerequisites

  • Administrator access to Google Workspace
  • Stickr account

Configuration Steps

1. Configure Gmail SMTP Host Route

  1. Log into admin.google.com
  2. Select Apps on the left-hand sidebar
  3. Go to Google Workspace and click the drop-down menu
  4. Select the Gmail app
  5. Scroll down and find Hosts
  6. Click Add Route
  7. Configure the new route with the following settings:

    Route Name: Stickr

    Host Type: Single host

    Host Name: smtp.stickrrmail.com

    Port: 2587

    Options:

    • ✓ Require mail to be transmitted via a secure (TLS) connection (recommended)
    • ✓ Require CA signed certificate
    • ✓ Validate certificate host name
  8. Click Test TLS Connection to verify the TLS connection is valid
  9. Save the route configuration

2. Configure Compliance Rules

  1. Return to the Gmail application settings
  2. Find and select Compliance
  3. Under Compliance, locate Content Compliance
  4. Click Add a Rule (or Add Another Rule if rules already exist)

Rule 1: Stickr Headers

  • Rule Name: "Rule #1 - Stickr Headers"
  • Email Messages to Affect: Select "Outbound" and "Internal-sending"
  • If All of the Following Match This Message:
    • First expression:
      • Match Type: Advanced content match
      • Location: Sender header
      • Match Type: Contains text
      • Content: @yourdomain.com (example: @stickrmail.com but use your actual domain)
      • Click Save
    • Second expression:
      • Match Type: Advanced content match
      • Location: Full headers
      • Match Type: Contains text
      • Content: X-Stickr-Processed
      • Click Save
  • Action: Change route to "Normal routing"
  • Show Options:
    • Account Types to Affect: Users
    • Envelope Filter: "Only affect specific envelope senders"
    • Select "Group membership only sent mail"
    • Select group: "Stickr Users, auto updated"
  • Click Save

Rule 2: No Stickr Headers

  • Rule Name: "Stickr Rule #2 - No Stickr Headers"
  • Email Messages to Affect: Select "Outbound and Internal-sending"
  • If All of the Following Match This Message:
    • First expression:
      • Match Type: Advanced content match
      • Location: Sender header
      • Match Type: Contains text
      • Content: @yourdomain.com
      • Click Save
    • Second expression:
      • Match Type: Advanced content match
      • Location: Full headers
      • Match Type: Not contains text
      • Content: X-Stickr-Processed
      • Click Save
  • Action: Change route to "Stickr route"
  • Show Options:
    • Account Types to Affect: Users
    • Envelope Filter: "Only affect specific envelope senders"
    • Select "Group membership only sent mail"
    • Select group: "Stickr Users, auto updated"
  • Click Save

Activating Stickr for Users

  1. Finish all Stickr Gmail rules and compliance settings
  2. Send invitations to users to sign into Stickr
  3. Users must sign in via Google OAuth
  4. As the Google Workspace admin, sync the group membership within your Google directory
  5. The group membership will dictate which email senders are affected by Stickr rules

Important Notes

  • Only Stickr users will be affected by Stickr rules
  • This is not a domain-level rule
  • Users must sign into Stickr for Stickr codes to be applied to their emails
  • Stickr processing is applied based on group membership
